FDR’s Cabinet
The year is 1945. World War II is raging, but nearing a close. More than a decade earlier, President Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected to be the Commander-In-Chief of the United States. His Presidency has proven to be one of the most trying and consequential years of leadership so far in the United States’ history. This committee explores the hypothetical situation in which Franklin D. Roosevelt did not pass away, and survived his term beyond World War II. Delegates will be acting the roles of the various members of Roosevelt’s cabinet, administration, and other top members of the U.S. federal government. This committee will be tasked with coordinating economic and political strategy on a national and global scale, in the wake of the deadliest war in human history.
Chair:
Samuel Longmire
Samuel Longmire is a fourth year studying Human Biology and Cognitive Science. He has been a part of the Bobcat MUN team for three years, serving as the USG of Community Engagement for the 2018-2019 academic year. Outside of MUN he can often be found studying, performing research, or preparing for a Dungeons and Dragons campaign. A veteran of the chaos involved in running organisations, Sam is relieved to take a step back this year and let a new generation of MUN members… volunteer him as Chair for a crisis committee. Nevertheless, Mr. Longmire is ready for anything and he is excited to share his love and respect for good debate and organised chaos with the members of this crisis.
Crisis Director:
Grady Thomson
Grady is a sophomore studying Political Science, and minoring in Writing Studies. This will be his second MercedMUN, as well as his second year as a MUN delegate. As an experienced crisis delegate, staffer, and director, Grady cannot wait to take the reins of this exciting crisis. Outside of MUN, Grady is interested in history and politics, and enjoys listening to music, watching soccer, as well as neglecting his podcast projects. Grady is extremely excited to make this committee a turbulent one that delegates are sure to enjoy and remember.
Co Chair:
Miguel Montoya
Miguel is a fifth-year student majoring in Business and Management. He comes from the city of Downey, the heartland of Los Angeles. He loves long walks on the beach, hiking, and working up a sweat at the gym. He may always look like he doesn’t have a plan, but looks can be deceiving, and he’s prepared for mostly everything. Miguel is very excited for this committee and whatever crazy plans the delegates have in store.
